Hand Washing Contact Lenses

Before hand washing your contact lenses you should always make sure to wash your hands first. This helps to prevent any issues that could arise from having dirty hands. Carefully remove one of your contact lenses from either your right or left eye. While holding the contact lense in your hand apply add 4 drops of a multipurpose cleaning solution to the contact lens. Now use one of the fingers on your free hand to gently massage or rub the cleaning solution into the contact lens. After cleaning the contact lens rinse off with the cleaning solution. Now place teh contact lens in its protective contact lens case and fill teh case with a small amount of teh cleaning solution. Repeat with the second contact lens.

The above cleaning instructions were for cleaning soft contact lenses. Hard contact lenses differ slightly in the cleaning technique used. You follow the exact same steps as for soft contact lenses but instead of a multipurpose cleaning solution you would use a specific hard contact cleansing solution that is formulated for hard contacts. Next rinse the contact lenses off with tap water instead of the hard contacts cleaning solution. Gently place the hard contact lens into its case and fill with the hard contact lens cleaning solution. Now repeat for teh second contact lens.

Remember to completely rinse of your contact lenses once your done washing them. Leftover or excess cleaning solution can irrate your eyes and cause discomfort.
